An interesting day at the salon.

I've been really busy working on other projects and traveling so I haven't posted anything in quite awhile. I was just browsing through some old shoots and stumbled up this image of Chanon from a shoot for Arsenic Magazine in Beverly Hills a few years ago. I'm moving back to LA in two weeks so I hope to shoot more while I'm there.
My cousin sent this link to me a little while ago and I thought I'd share it here. Now I'm not one to give advice on how to pose models, in fact on my shoots I let the models handle the initial poses and I might have them make minor adjustments from there. If they're good professional models they tend to have an idea of what looks natural and comfortable. Anyway, the only advice I would give is to NOT pose your models like this:
A few selections from a shoot I did with Alyssa Julya Smith last year for Arsenic Magazine.
My beautiful friend and amazing model Gabriella just launched her new website www.fallinlust.com. If you like great photography and appreciate beauty then you should definitely check out her site. Gaby and I have shot a few times and have become great friends over the years and I'm really happy to see her website come to life because I know how much work she's put into it. Check it out!
I was able to snap a few shots with the models sporting the very awesome William Painter's during yesterday's shoot for Arsenic Magazine.
Models: Jesse Golden & Cynthia Chavez
Here's one of the shots from the William Painter shoot I did earlier today with Italia Faith.
I really like this photo taken by Helmut Newton of Indian born model | actress | author | TV personality | foodie Padma Lakshmi, I would love to do a shoot with her sometime and then have some dinner.
I haven't posted anything on the blog in awhile so here's an old shot from the archives of Playboy/Penthouse/Hustler model Danielle Trixie. I did a quick shoot with her at her place in Dallas, TX a few years ago when I was passing through town. This was probably the fourth or fifth photo shoot I had ever done. This photo is far from those you'd find in Penthouse or Hustler and as usual there are no touchups.
Back in August of this year I was up in Venice Beach working on a project with Arsenic Magazine which they've titled "A Deeper Kind of Sex." I was shooting stills for the project while Director/Writer Scott Burns (Bourne Ultimatum, Contagion, The Informant) directed the video. The video features models Tatiana Dietemen, Alyssa Smith, and Shay Maria.
From the original post on the Arsenic Magazine site:
The objectification of women: can't live with it, and can't sell billions of dollars of material items without it. It has warped a generation of men in all sorts of diabolical ways and has turned young women against food, each other and themselves. And yet here we are, confronted daily with our own appetites for youth and beauty and sex with access to an infinite internet receding into the darkest and most fascinating places. Sam Shepherd once said,
A pair of William Painter sunglasses were spotted on model Pamela Moses while shooting near the USC campus with photographer Steven Williams for Arsenic Magazine.
It's 1:05AM and I'm currently in Santa Monica, CA trying to get some sleep because I have a long day of shooting in downtown LA tomorrow for Arsenic Magazine. Due to the extremely loud shitty trance music that's blasting through the walls right now, I don't think I'll be sleeping anytime soon so I thought I'd add a new addition to My Model Wish List since it's been over 2 weeks since my post about Emmanuella Chriqui. The beautiful Minka Kelly is on my radar right now. Yu Tsai shot her for Esquire Magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive" in 2010 and 3 years later she's still pretty damn sexy.
This is great, Jimmy Kimmel shows how easily influenced most people are. Sadly these individuals represent a much larger population of people that are willing to follow and adopt trends that don't even exist just because they lack their own opinions and are afraid of looking like idiots if they're not onboard with what they think everyone else is into.
Here's another shot of the lovely Alyssa Smith from my shoot for Arsenic Magazine a few weeks ago in Venice Beach.
I may have posted a few of these awhile back, but I don't think I ever posted all of them. These are a couple of shots from the "Foreplay at Nelson J" shoot I did for Arsenic Magazine at the Nelson J Salon in Beverly Hills. The model is the Russian beauty Anastasia Chentsova.
I've been going through a few more of the images from the recent Arsenic Magazine shoot I did last Thursday in Venice Beach, here are a few random selections of the beautiful Tatiana Dieteman. You can follow her on Instagram at @tatiana_dieteman.
Sasha Grey . . . she's different from the other girls you'll find in My Model Wish List. I've done shoots with a Playboy model, a Penthouse model and a European porn star before, so shooting someone from that industry wouldn't necessarily be something new for me, but there's something that sets Sasha apart from those other models. It's probably because she seems like a bad ass that just doesn't give a fuck about what you think and there's something really sexy about that, not to mention she's extremely intellectual and well spoken which makes her that much more attractive. Awhile back she released her own book titled Neü Sex in which she gets behind the camera and documents her own life, I haven't checked it out yet, but I am interested in picking up a copy.
Sasha, if you stumble upon this post and want to shoot, send me an e-mail!
Awhile back I was talking to my good friend Brian Lima, who is also an amazing photographer, about whose work he follows. To my surprise he told me Bryan Adams was one of his favorite photographers, to which my response was "Bryan Adams, the musician?" Turns out Bryan Adams is an extremely well established fashion/portrait photographer and a lot of people don't realize it. He's had a very successful career in music, but even without his music income he'd be pretty busy as a working photographer. He's worked on campaigns and has been published in a lot of popular magazines. You should check out some of his work and you'll see why he's been successful in this arena outside of the music industry www.bryanadamsphotography.com.
