An interesting day at the salon.

I thought I'd share this video to motivate anyone who hasn't been following the World Cup. This was filmed awhile back by Jim Dziura & Mike Brillantes during a shoot by Ben Watts for Treats! Magazine. The models featured in the video are Audra Marie, Ayla Parker, Heidi Edwards, Lindsey Byard, and Marie-Charlotte Mahul.
Here's a collection of models on My Model Wish List since August of last year. I've worked with a few of them before and hope to work the the rest of them at some point.
My cousin sent this link to me a little while ago and I thought I'd share it here. Now I'm not one to give advice on how to pose models, in fact on my shoots I let the models handle the initial poses and I might have them make minor adjustments from there. If they're good professional models they tend to have an idea of what looks natural and comfortable. Anyway, the only advice I would give is to NOT pose your models like this:

Julia Skalozub is a Czech photographer that has shot for numerous publications worldwide, most notably Playboy, Volo and FotoVideo. I first saw her work on the photography portfolio website 500.px and was really into it. I would love to be able shoot at her level and work with the magazines she produces content for on a regular basis.
I was just browsing through some old photos, this is a shot of czech model Jana Potyšová, better known by her porn name Eufrat. She was the second model I ever shot and have since shot with her numerous times. She's a great model, an extremely cool girl and an awesome friend.
Well I've managed to get myself stranded in Argentina for an additional week, but that's not a bad thing. With this extra time here I was able to spend time collaborating with my good friends Tomy and Pali from Tuco Studios. We met the last time I was in Buenos Aires back in 2011 and have been talking about trying to work on some stuff together ever since. We have some cool new projects in the works and the other night I was hanging out with Tomy and he started bring new life to some photos I took awhile back and have done much with. Here's a sample of what's to come, the model is the beautiful Eufrat from Prague and the shoot took place in Los Angeles back in 2011.
I've been really busy traveling a lot lately and haven't had a chance to post anything over the past month. I'm currently in Argentina and will be here for a few weeks. Since I'm here I thought I should add an Argentinian model to My Model Wish List. I was browsing through some Argentina based modeling agencies and stumbled upon Mia Flores Piran on the Civiles site. I don't know if I'll have be able to schedule a shoot with her, but I do have some friends that work for the agency so you never know. I do have a few shoots scheduled while I'm here and I will post those when I can.
I haven't posted anything on the blog in awhile so here's an old shot from the archives of Playboy/Penthouse/Hustler model Danielle Trixie. I did a quick shoot with her at her place in Dallas, TX a few years ago when I was passing through town. This was probably the fourth or fifth photo shoot I had ever done. This photo is far from those you'd find in Penthouse or Hustler and as usual there are no touchups.
I just discovered Mila Ryzhkova in a photo set by Ukrainian photographer Alex Kolodyahzni for Next Door Model Magazine and really liked her look. I don't know anything about her, but thought she was worth a spot on My Model Wish List.
A pair of William Painter sunglasses were spotted on model Pamela Moses while shooting near the USC campus with photographer Steven Williams for Arsenic Magazine.
I've never really been a fan of Lady Gaga, but she definitely explores a lot of creative endeavors and has been really successful, so good for her. Here are some photos of Lady Gaga getting naked for a recent project photographed by Inez & Vinoodh for V Magazine.
I may have posted a few of these awhile back, but I don't think I ever posted all of them. These are a couple of shots from the "Foreplay at Nelson J" shoot I did for Arsenic Magazine at the Nelson J Salon in Beverly Hills. The model is the Russian beauty Anastasia Chentsova.
This is a question that was submitted to me today through my tumblr page :
anonymous asked:
How do you respectively get your models naked? Is that something you already discussed with them before ever meeting them? How do both of you get comfortable with each other. Have you ever been intimate/or tried to get intimate with any of your models?
my response:
Great question, it’s actually one I get asked frequently by both photographers and non-photographers alike. Each time I’ve done a shoot that involves nudity it’s always discussed beforehand. Usually we’ll send some references back and forth on the type of shots we want to do and then we move forward from there. Up to this point every nude shoot has been comfortable due to the fact that everything was discussed ahead of time so there aren’t any surprises and I’m working with professional models that have done this type of work plenty of times before shooting with me. The fact that the models are comfortable makes me comfortable, I think if they were nervous then that might make me feel a bit uncomfortable.
All the models I’ve worked with have told me that I’m easy to work with and they’re instantly comfortable with me, I attribute this to my attitude going into the shoot. When you know what you’re going to be shooting and focus on the photo shoot as nothing more than that, it allows you to keep things strictly professional and that’s the mindset you have to have before, during and after the shoot. If you’re intent is to get intimate with the model, you would be putting off a different vibe which would in turn make the model uncomfortable. For me photography is a creative outlet and a great way to meet new people with the same interests. I have never tried to make a move on any of the models I’ve worked with. I’m definitely not opposed to dating models, but trying to use a photo shoot as a means to pursue any sort of relationship with one is not the right time nor the place. If a relationship with one of the models were to develop outside of the professional work setting that would be a different story. If you want to shoot this type of photography you have to be able to separate the physical and emotional stuff from the professional stuff.
Thanks for the question!
Steve
Gabriella is another model that I've worked with on a few occasions, but she's such a fantastic model and friend that she has a permanent place on My Model Wish List. I first met her back in April of 2011 and at that point she was the third model I had ever shot. She's based in Budapest, Hungary, but works all over the world and recently appeared on the Playboy website. I always look forward to seeing her new photo sets and can't wait to work with her again. If you're on Facebook you can follow her at www.facebook.com/GabriellaTheModel. I'm hoping to work with her and Katey, another Budapest based model on My Model Wish List, sometime early next year.

This video shot by photographer Greg Williams for Esquire is from 3 years ago and still inspires me. I would love to work with Kate Beckinsale.
I've been going through a few more of the images from the recent Arsenic Magazine shoot I did last Thursday in Venice Beach, here are a few random selections of the beautiful Tatiana Dieteman. You can follow her on Instagram at @tatiana_dieteman.
