I was just browsing through one of my drives and saw these random pictures of Jana a.k.a. Eufrat that I never published anywhere. This shoot took place in March of 2011.
Sneak Peek . . .
Here's a random selection from the shoot I did with Arsenic Magazine yesterday:
Traveling with Lowepro
Awhile back Lowepro sent me some gear and one of the items they sent was a Lowepro Nova Sport 35L AW. I'm currently in San Diego loading up my Nova Sport now for a shoot tomorrow in LA. I'll be doing some furniture shots for Furniture Porn followed up by some fashion work with models Kate Compton, Danielle Ruiz and Mina Doll for Arsenic Magazine. I've been out of town a lot over the past few months and this bag just got back from traveling with me through California, Peru, Chile and Argentina and really made traveling with camera gear much easier. I fly a lot and definitely recommend this bag to anyone else that travels with camera gear. The built in rain cover really came in handy while I was rolling my suitcase (with the Nova Sport secured to the top) through the streets of Buenos Aires. On the way down to Buenos Aires from Los Angeles I was able to fit my Nikon D7000 + 4 Nikon lenses (12-24mm f/4G | 35mm f/1.8G | 50mm f/1.8G | 55-200mm), a Canon 6D + 3 Sigma lenses (18-35mm f/1.8 | 50mm f/1.4 | 50-150mm f/2.8), Nikon SB-600 Speedlight, a Macbook Air and a bunch of filters and accessories.
Barbarian - City of Women
My friends in the San Diego based band Barbarian used one of my photos on their debut album. This was a shot taken during my very first photo shoot, the model is Brynn Cook.
Things to Come
Well I've managed to get myself stranded in Argentina for an additional week, but that's not a bad thing. With this extra time here I was able to spend time collaborating with my good friends Tomy and Pali from Tuco Studios. We met the last time I was in Buenos Aires back in 2011 and have been talking about trying to work on some stuff together ever since. We have some cool new projects in the works and the other night I was hanging out with Tomy and he started bring new life to some photos I took awhile back and have done much with. Here's a sample of what's to come, the model is the beautiful Eufrat from Prague and the shoot took place in Los Angeles back in 2011.
Morgan Freeman Finger Painting by Kyle Lambert
I just saw this on Mashable on thought it was worth a repost. It's incredible what Kyle Lambert is able to do with the iPad. I was never into finger-painting, but this is pretty awesome.

Photographer Spotlight - Jorge Aragon
I've been hanging out in Argentina for about 2 weeks now and even though this is my fifth time here I've been discovering and experiencing a lot of new things that I hadn't in previous trips. Each time I come here I stay for a few weeks to a month. During this particular trip I've been exploring the photography and fashion elements of this amazing city. So far since I've been here I've befriended some amazing photographers, producers and stylists and have had the good fortune of meeting and hanging out with Jorge Aragon. Jorge is a Colombian born, Argentina based photographer that I've been following for quite awhile and have been friends with on Facebook for a year or two. Prior to this trip we had never met in person, but yesterday we were finally able to get together and he's been introducing me to a number of great contacts in the industry here, I hope to repay the gesture next time he's in LA. He and the models have all been so cool and receptive and I really appreciate the kindness and willingness to help me get acquainted with the key players in the Buenos Aires photography and fashion scene. Jorge is a very versatile shooting everything from products to high fashion. I find his work inspiring and he's definitely one of my favorite photographers in Buenos Aires which is why I want to include him in my Photographer Spotlight series.

My Model Wish List - Mia Flores Piran
I've been really busy traveling a lot lately and haven't had a chance to post anything over the past month. I'm currently in Argentina and will be here for a few weeks. Since I'm here I thought I should add an Argentinian model to My Model Wish List. I was browsing through some Argentina based modeling agencies and stumbled upon Mia Flores Piran on the Civiles site. I don't know if I'll have be able to schedule a shoot with her, but I do have some friends that work for the agency so you never know. I do have a few shoots scheduled while I'm here and I will post those when I can.
From the Archives - Danielle Trixie
I haven't posted anything on the blog in awhile so here's an old shot from the archives of Playboy/Penthouse/Hustler model Danielle Trixie. I did a quick shoot with her at her place in Dallas, TX a few years ago when I was passing through town. This was probably the fourth or fifth photo shoot I had ever done. This photo is far from those you'd find in Penthouse or Hustler and as usual there are no touchups.
A Deeper Kind of Sex
Back in August of this year I was up in Venice Beach working on a project with Arsenic Magazine which they've titled "A Deeper Kind of Sex." I was shooting stills for the project while Director/Writer Scott Burns (Bourne Ultimatum, Contagion, The Informant) directed the video. The video features models Tatiana Dietemen, Alyssa Smith, and Shay Maria.
From the original post on the Arsenic Magazine site:
The objectification of women: can't live with it, and can't sell billions of dollars of material items without it. It has warped a generation of men in all sorts of diabolical ways and has turned young women against food, each other and themselves. And yet here we are, confronted daily with our own appetites for youth and beauty and sex with access to an infinite internet receding into the darkest and most fascinating places. Sam Shepherd once said,
"In the middle of a contradiction, that's where you want to be."

Finding Vivian Maier
This is a film that I've been wanting to see since Vivian Maier's collection of work was first discovered. It's film is premiering at DOC NYC on November 17 and I'm hoping it'll make it's way out to the west coast shortly after since I don't think I'll be in New York this year. If you haven't heard of Vivian Maier then I strongly encourage you to watch the trailer.
A mysterious nanny, who secretly took over 100,000 photographs that were hidden in storage lockers and discovered decades later, is now considered among the 20th century’s greatest photographers. Maier’s strange and riveting life and art are revealed through never before seen photographs, films, and interviews with dozens who thought they knew her.
A Day Wandering In Tijuana
Yesterday morning I packed my Nikon and Custom SLR gear into my Lowepro Slingshot and headed across the border into Tijuana where I met up with my friend and fellow photographer Hugo. I've been to TJ numerous times, but never really got to explore the city beyond places that are within walking distance of the border. So yesterday Hugo drove me around to some places that I probably would have never seen. We stopped by some fish markets, a farmers market, drove up to a nice neighborhood that had a great vantage point with a view of San Diego and Coronado from a Mexican perspective, and finished the day at a small park. While in Mexico I did do something somewhat touristy which I never do when I travel anywhere else, I had a Caesar Salad at the restaurant where it was invented . . . it was good.
While south of the border I was able to snap a few quick promo shots for my favorite sunglass brand, William Painter.
My Model Wish List - Mila Ryzhkova
I just discovered Mila Ryzhkova in a photo set by Ukrainian photographer Alex Kolodyahzni for Next Door Model Magazine and really liked her look. I don't know anything about her, but thought she was worth a spot on My Model Wish List.

Miley Cyrus Photographed by Terry Richardson
Photographer Terry Richardson recently photographed Miley Cyrus in New York. He also directed her recent music video "Wrecking Ball." The more I see of Miley Cyrus, the more I think she might be retarded. See more on Terry's Tumblr page.

Random Photo From Palomar Mountain
Here's a random photo I took earlier this year when I went up to Palomar Mountain with a friend of mine.

Photographer Spotlight - Carsten Peter
German photographer Carsten Peter is definitely one of my top 10 favorite photographers which is why he's in my Photographer Spotlight. I first encountered his work when I saw a series of photos he had taken in Hang Son Doong Cave in Vietnam for National Geographic. Upon seeing the photos I immediately looked him up to check out more of what he has done. It turns out he's a World Photo Press award winner as well as an Emmy winner and regular contributor to National Geographic. He's taken amazing photos all over the world, in deep cave systems, volcanos and tornados. If you have a moment check out the video I've included and his photos as well. You can follow him on Twitter and Facebook.

My Model Wish List - Mona Johannesson
Mona Johannsesson is a Swedish model that I wasn't too familiar with, but stumbled upon her this morning while looking for new models to add to My Model Wish List. She's done a lot of work for Vogue, JC Penny, J. Crew and other brands. I think she looks amazing and would love to have an opportunity to work with her someday.

Photographer Spotlight - Charles Lucima
Charles Lucima has been in my Photographer Spotlight since I first started shooting models. I think I first stumbled upon his work on Model Mayhem and he was one of the few photographers on that site that actually had truly professional work in his portfolio. There are a lot of photographers on there that list themselves as "very experienced" but don't have the work to back up that statement, Charles is not one of them. His work is always shot beautifully and elegantly, everything he shoots really is a work of art. He works with amazing models and captures them in just the right way. I would love to just be on location with him when he's shooting because I know I would learn a lot.
You can check out some of his work below as well as a recent video shot my Chris Vongsawat during a shoot Charles was doing with model Kate Compton for Treats! Magazine. The video looks great, but I'm really not a fan of the music selection.

William Painter Spotted Again
A pair of William Painter sunglasses were spotted on model Pamela Moses while shooting near the USC campus with photographer Steven Williams for Arsenic Magazine.

My Model Wish List - Minka Kelly
It's 1:05AM and I'm currently in Santa Monica, CA trying to get some sleep because I have a long day of shooting in downtown LA tomorrow for Arsenic Magazine. Due to the extremely loud shitty trance music that's blasting through the walls right now, I don't think I'll be sleeping anytime soon so I thought I'd add a new addition to My Model Wish List since it's been over 2 weeks since my post about Emmanuella Chriqui. The beautiful Minka Kelly is on my radar right now. Yu Tsai shot her for Esquire Magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive" in 2010 and 3 years later she's still pretty damn sexy.
